THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL STANDARD FOR CLEAN BEAUTY
There is no universal standard for “clean beauty,” as for the most part, the beauty industry has been self-regulated and under-regulated in the U.S.. There is, however, plenty of debate about its definition. Lost in the argument, ingredients that have health or environmental safety concerns remain in products commonly found on retail and bathroom shelves.
So we made our own...
The HABELO STANDARD
In keeping with our commitment to lead with efficacious and beautiful products that do not compromise safety, skin health, and environmental responsibility, we have decided to prohibit the use of over 3,500 questionably harmful and debated ingredients from our formulas, because we know there are powerful and safe alternatives.
So we’ve gone beyond the 30 banned ingredients in the U.S. and the over 1,300 banned in the EU to only use what is unquestionably safe in our skincare formulations to choose every ingredient intentionally for clinical efficacy, performance, safety, and a conscience clear of harm. That’s our decision and our standard. This includes:
No phenoxyethanol
No PEGs
No nanoparticles
No parabens
No mineral oils
No petroleum
No paraffin
No talc
No synthetic fragrances
Our Fragrances
Our fragrances are 100% natural and derived from plant-based essential oils. In an abundance of caution to sensitive skin types, our oils have been added in minimum viable quantities to lightly scent products and minimize the risk of skin reactions. Our products are clinically tested for safety for all skin types and conditions.
